At the Christmas Court in the Imperial City of Anuire, hostilities broke out between the Count of Baerghos and the Constable of Avanil. What began with a slight, turned into a household clash in the streets of Anuire. The Count of Baerghos was seriously wounded and might have fallen had the citizens of Anuire, at great personal risk, not come to his aid.

Aeric Boeruine ordered the members involved in the fracus to be detained in the cells of the watch towers so that tempers could cool. In the meantime it was determined that Ruormad Woodvyn, Constable of Avanil cast the first insult that resulted in the fight and was fined.

Two days later, seeking revenge, the household of the Constable set upon members of the Count's household with cudgels; many were wounded and one man was beaten to death. The member of the Constable's household was arrested for murder and is awaiting trial. The following day, the Count's household seeking immediate satisfaction, set upon the Constable's household with swords. This time no one was killed, however, the Count not wanting to give up the moral high ground, told the servant to turn themselves in.

More fines were levied and the Emperor told them there was to be no further violence or the cost would be his disfavor and wrath.

A fire mysteriously broke out in the Count of Baerghos's townhouse. If not for the fast thinking of the Count's son, his parents might have burned to death. The countessa Auriala was seriously burned, but alive. It was discovered that a long standing servant in the Baerghos household was missing and that the fire looked like arson. The Count's mind turned to the one person who could have orchastrated the act.

It was later reported by members of the Constable's household that the Count of Baerghos murdered the Constable in his sleep and fled like a thief through the fireplace.

At great personal expense, the Emperor had his long time friend "resurrected" and had Prince Madoc and Prince Aeric seek out both the servant that went missing and the Count of Baerghos. Telling them that he wanted an end put to this feud and to find out the truth of the matter.

When Prince Madoc arrived in the court of Baerghos, initially the Count was reluctant to allow himself to be taken back to Anuire, but after some convincing and some encouragement from his Admiral, Vordoon, the Count of Baerghos surrendered himself to the Prince of Diemed. He was allowed to keep his sword and was installed in the Prince's household under protective custody along with his family until the matter could be resolved.

Both sides of the murderous encounter were recorded, first the arson. The facts and evidence pointed to the constable attempting to kill the Count and his family. If he had any motivation, he has chosen not to share it. The Constable was arrested and demanded to see the Emperor. It was determined after the Justicar's report to the Emperor, that the Count of Baerghos was within his rights to seek redress. So, he would not face the sword for murder, however, he was not to escape punishment for an attack upon an officer of the court of Avanil.

The Emperor after hearing the recommendations of the Officiers of the Judiciary, met with Woodvyn. The private meeting was not private for long as an incensed Woodvyn blustered and poored out years of anger and malice against his former ward. The meeting ended with the Constable throwing open the doors and leaving the Emperor's private solar in a smoldering hatred, flinging the gold chain of the Order of the Golden Pegasus to the ground at Prince Madoc's feet. The Constable was escorted to his home where he was to retrieve any retainers and articles that he needed.

A ban was posted stating the following:

His Imperial Majesty, Darian Avan, hath decreed that from this day Sir Ruormad Woodvyn, Constable of Avanil is to be stripped of titles and offices; these titles shall pass to his heir. Sir Ruormad has a fortnight to to leave the boundaries of the Empire under pain of death. His Imperial Majesty has delivered the verdict that should Sir Ruormad return before 10 years and a day has passed, that he is to be put to death.

In the late conflicts between the houses of Roelane and Woodvyn, and disturbing Their most gracious Majestys' Peace, His Imperial Majesty has also banished his excellency, Tannen Roelane, Count of Baerghos from the court of Anuire and Anuire the City for a time of three years and a day. Should the count make an appearance in the City or the Court, he will be arrested and serve the sentence in the tower of the Imperial Caern. His Majesty has given the household of the Count a fortnight to comply.

Any subject found to harbor or assist either party to break the Emperor's decree will do so at their own peril.
