In the Summer of 570 MR, the Sword Hawk began to mass on the borders of Muden; the county was in the midst of a civil war between the royalists and the free cities. The Captain of Muden had been taken and was being held as a figure head for the rebels to rally around. The old count had abdicated, leaving his throne and bloodline to his heir, who was subsequently killed in military action against the rebels.

Erik Danig being a noble from an ancient line, saw an opportunity for his brother-in-law, Oden of Rohrmarch to rise to the occasion and lay claim to the land through diplomacy.

The Prince of Danigau, the King of Rohrmarch, Prince Oden, and the Anuirean Duke of Taeghas landed in Muden to have Prince Oden recognized and to liberate Muden from the Sword Hawk.
